Kozol Law Offices was established in March, 2001 by me, Eric J. Kozol, Esq., to offer legal services and counseling to help people and small businesses that have been injured, deceived and/or cheated, to protect them in real estate, transactional and business organization matters, and to represent their interests in legal disputes from pre-litigation claims or defenses into and through the civil litigation process (including, if necessary, through trial or arbitration and all appeals) in the Massachusetts state and federal courts. My practice is focused primarily in the areas of real estate, personal injury, business, employment, insurance, health and family/matrimonial law although I do offer representation in an array of adjunct matters.
There is never a charge for an initial consultation and I frequently utilize creative fee arrangements in any situation in which a contingent, hybrid, reduced or limited representation fee arrangement may be possible. I believe one of my most important roles is to educate you about the law as it may affect you and your particular situation and I am happy to discuss your situation or questions at any time (well, let’s make that between 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.). I am easily accessible by cell phone or e-mail and any voicemail messages or e-mails will be responded to within one business day.
A lawyer you can rely on
I am a third-generation Boston lawyer who learned the basics of practicing law from my father, grandfather, and several other lawyer relatives. My mother was a college English professor and my grandmother a H.S. English teacher and, therefore, from an early age I was instilled with the importance of becoming a skilled writer, which I continuously work to hone and improve.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost 30 years since I graduated from law school as I feel like I am constantly learning and developing as a lawyer and just “becoming worth my salt” but, in that time, I have developed certain principles that I try to live by in my practice. These include that, in order to be an effective representative and advocate, I strive to always be meticulous, compassionate, straightforward, and honest. I believe there is no substitute for hard work, yet I also try to always maintain a sense of humor and humility in the practice of law (as well as in life).
On a more personal note, I live in the greater Boston area with my wife, Lisa, who works in real estate development and financing, and our dog, Rosie, who is a professional food beggar, and I have two adult children, Jacob, who is a software engineer in Berlin, Germany (and who created this website for me), and Eva, who is in college and is an environmental science major. I am a big Boston sports fan, and sports fan in general, and I am just as happy to discuss sports (at no charge) as I am to discuss a complex legal matter.
